We want everyone in the Sioux Falls area to know they have affordable, reliable, and accessible public transit options whether they are commuting to work, getting to medical appointments, meeting up with friends and family, or heading to a local event. SAM Partners with Via

Sioux Area Metro has partnered with Via to manage and operate the City's public transit system. This new partnership aims to enhance the accessibility, efficiency, and overall experience of public transportation for residents. As a result of this partnership, residents can expect improved public transportation services, including more direct routes, shorter wait times and expanded availability.

Via is responsible for day-to-day operations, including route planning, scheduling, fare collection, and customer service. 

The City of Sioux Falls will continue to oversee the overall public transit system, including federal funding, regulatory compliance, public policy, and addressing any complaints or to request a reasonable modification.

Who to Contact

For most questions related to SAM's services, routes, schedules, or fares, residents should contact Via directly. This includes booking rides, learning about the transit network, providing feedback on rides, and more. The best way to contact Via is through the new SAM website or by phone. 

If you have questions about the City's role in public transportation, regulations, or federal funding, you can contact the City directly. However, most questions about the day-to-day operations of SAM should be directed to Via.
